The free Wi-Fi facility for which registration can be done at his office, was launched at KTC bus stand on the occasion of his birthday.
While KTC bus stand was one of the 10 places where Wi-Fi was launched, the remaining places were Holy Spirit ground, Chowgule College junction, Vidhyanagar open space, ground near Kennybab restaurant, joggers park Fatorda, BJP club area, Alta corner junction and Fatorda church square.
Earlier in the day, Sardesai also launched his website www.vijaisardesai.in and various development works. Later on at BP club there was the distribution of assistance to farmers, differently-abled persons and women self help groups. Sardesai was available at his residence as well to attend to well wishers.
Speaking about his website, he said his vision for Fatroda is where he personally works together with the citizens of Fatorda, non-governmental organizations, self-help groups and professionals to modernize Fatorda, economically and culturally.
“It is my endeavour to make Fatorda a model constituency for the rest of Goa. Over the last 3 years despite being an opposition legislator, I have been able to make substantial progress towards this aim,” said Sardesai.
Sardesai further stated that ever since he was elected as MLA of the people of Fatorda, he has been fighting to ensure that the issues of Goa are thoroughly debated in the legislative assembly and outside. “I have not only raised the issues plaguing Goa, but also the many problems that the people of Fatorda have been facing for the past many years,” said Sardesai.
Talking about Fatorda, he highlighted the Fatorda organic model which he said is something he had been planning for a long time.
“Here, local farmers not only produce multiple crops a year but get the opportunity to market their organically produced vegetables, fruits and grains, through our own organic Fatorda streets,” said Sardesai.
He further wished to a lot of businesses and industries coming up, which he said will definitely improve employment for his constituents. He explained what their ‘Home Work’ group can establish working with independent working women who can produce choicest jewelry, bespoke soaps and traditional foods. “This way the women will not have to be at the mercy of Government alms and schemes that focus on meagre subsistence,” said Sardesai.
“We have some old architecture; we can restore it, by beginning with the old municipality building lying almost in ruins. I would like to push for a heritage tourism circuit in the Latin quarter of my constituency,” added Sardesai.
Sardesai further said he would like the waste management system to be improved to segregate at the next level and where civic sense and community initiatives beautify endemically dirty areas given the callous neglect by the civic authorities.
Throughout Sunday, supporters were seen flocking at his residence or at the various functions held in Fatorda.
