MAPUSA: Purple Women’s Empowerment and Cream Gender Equality played out a goalless draw in the opening match of the 7-A-Side Discover Football Women’s Football and Women’s Rights Festival, played at Duler Stadium, here on Tuesday.
In all eight teams from Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Maharashtra-Nagpur, Maharashtra-Mumbai, Karnataka, Punjab, Delhi and host Goa are contesting in the Seven A-Side Discover Football 2017 Women’s Football and Women’s Rights Festival in association with Goa Football Association at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
The Purple Women’s Empowerment squad held the upper hand in the first half of the match but Cream Gender Equality keeper Norzin Lhamo did a fine job to deny Ekambara and Juni from scoring.
Changing ends the Purple squad kept up with their attacking play.
Cream Gender keeper Norzin once again came to her sides rescue when he brilliantly kept away Alisha’s 25-yard strike.
At the other end Purple keeper Rhea too proved apt for the task when she came with a one to one save to deny Usha.
Couple of minutes into the match Cream Gender’s Usha made a threatening run into the rival camp and set up Dhwani who was a wee bit late to guide the ball home.
