MAPUSA: The employees of Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank of Goa Ltd (MUCB) from across the 24 branches of Goa held an emergency meeting on Sunday in the hall of the Mapusa branch.
During the meeting the employees called upon the RBI and the government to find an immediate solution to the problem related to the depositors, officers, and employees.
The Goa Urban Co-operative Bank Employees Union has demanded that the employees be allowed to withdraw their salaries immediately.
The President of the Goa Urban Co-operative Bank Employees Union, Subhash Naik George, told the employees that they should be prepared to come on the streets if there is no immediate solution to the problem.
“If the present Board of Directors cannot run the affairs of the bank, they should immediately tender their resignation so that the higher authorities like the RBI or government can take over. It is surprising that although the bank has credited the salary of the employees, they are unable to withdraw the same which is totally unacceptable,” he said.
“As the Ganesh festival is fast approaching, we hope that the management takes immediate decision on the same. The employees are suffering as well as the customers as they are not able to withdraw their hard earned money from the bank,” he added.
