BENAULIM: Viva Bardez Veterans thrashed Raia Veterans 3-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the Monti Trophy Veterans soccer tournament, organised by United Boys of Monti-Benaulim, at Monti grounds, Benaulim on Sunday.
The match was evenly balanced in the first session with Pele Xavier going close to open the scoring for Raia.
After the change of ends, Viva Bardez stepped up the pressure and made the breakthrough when Alex Alvares curled in a free kick past the Raia Veterans goalkeeper Regio Olivera .
Two minutes later Alex doubled the lead with a neat finish.
Raia goalkeeper Regio made several excellent saves but he was beaten again when substitute Ambrose netted the third goal for Bardez .
