MAPUSA: Thivim’s ex-MLA Kiran Kandolkar on Thursday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch Swachh Goa Abhiyan on October 2 to weed out corruption in Goa by directing Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to accept all the orders passed by Lokayukta in four different cases.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Kandolkar said the Lokayukta recently had passed orders into four complaints such as alleged siphoning of funds of the building and other construction workers (BOCW) welfare fund, amounting to Rs 13 crore.
In this regard, he said the Lokayukta has directed the ACB to file FIR against unknown persons and added that the investigation can be entrusted to the CBI in case if politicians and high officials are involved.
Kandolkar alleged that a few sarpanchas and panchas owing allegiance to Bharatiya Janata Party have registered themselves as construction workers and have been paid from the welfare fund.
He stressed on the order passed by Lokayukta on irregularities in the procurement of dustbins for beaches by Tourism Department directing the high ranking officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau to investigate the matter.
The third case in which the Lokayukta has passed an order is directing State Chief Secretary and Anti-Corruption Bureau to file FIR against former Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar for allegedly owning disproportionate assets and lastly a detailed investigation be conducted into the matter relating to Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar’s alleged disproportionate assets and money laundering activities.
Kandolkar claimed that MLAs who are imported from the Congress have tarnished the clean image of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the State and government is not ready to act. The cases filed before the Lokayukta have involvement of those MLAs who are imported and requested the PM to a launch Swachh Goa Abhiyan to weed out corruption in Goa.
He requested PM to ask CM Sawant to accept all recommendations made by Lokayukta in the above four cases and hand over the same to CBI so that a message goes to Goans that only BJP government can rid the State and country of corruption.
