The announcement comes two days after Rane’s statement that the govt will challenge the judgment in the apex court.

Addressing a hurriedly called press conference, Rane said that this decision was taken after a detailed discussion with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Damodar ‘Damu’ Naik.

Rane expressed his happiness that the High Court had praised Section 39 (A) of the TCP Act, which according to him, is a positive development for the State.

“Under Section 39 A of the TCP Act, zone changes can be made in the Regional Plan after keeping applications open for suggestions and objections for 30 days,” he said.

“I am very happy with the overall verdict of the High Court,” he said.

Stating that the new Regional Plan will not be formulated in the State, Rane said that instead zoning plans will be prepared.

Rane said that he will soon chair a TCP Board meeting and based on the High Court’s judgment, the Board will frame the guidelines and rules and bring them into force by notifying them.
