St Xavier’s book final berth

MAPUSA: St Xavier’s, Mapusa got the better of Our Lady of Rosary High School, Dona Paula 4-2 via the tie-breaker to enter the final of the GFA Girls U-18 Knockout Tournament, at Duler Stadium, here, on Tuesday morning. The teams were locked 3-3 at full time.

There were two hat-trick scored by forwards of either teams. Scindia Saudantikar scored in the 13th, 30th and 57th minutes for St Xavier’s, Mapusa while Karishma Shirvoikar secured her hat-trick with goals in the 43rd, 61st and 63rd minutes for Our Lady of Rosary HS.

St Xavier’s kept their cool in the ensuing tie-breaker with goals from Ciena Lobo, Scindia, Espy Fernandes and Sneha Kerkar while only Annika Coelho and Simran Fernandes netted for Our Lady of Rosary HS.

Rosary HSS, Navelim will take on Carmel Convent, Nuvem in the second semi-finals, at Cuncolim ground, on Wednesday, at 8.30 a.m.
