PANJIM: An all new ‘purely merit and achievement based’ sports marks allotment system under the sports policy will be unveiled by the Goa Board shortly.
The new system for allotment of sports marks devised by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) is set to be placed before the government for its final approval and effected by October 2013 for the on-going academic year.
While Goa Board was not willing to divulge details of the allotment of sports marks (to be effected for Stds V to XII), Herald has learnt that achievement will be given all weightage for consideration of allotment of marks as against the earlier practise of participation.
“Merit based incentives have been defined in the new sports marks allotment pattern under the sports policy,” is all that Chairman of Goa Board J R Rebello divulged pointing out that achievement in competitions at every level will be recognised. The marks obtained will reflect in the final result and once the CCE comes into effect for Std IX and X the same will be incorporated in the Grade Point Averages (GPA).
