VASCO: GoaMiles application and its services to the tourists are slowly gaining popularity. Sources from Goa Miles said that over 100 new taxi operators have applied for the registration on this platform.
Savio Messias, the president of Travel and Tourism Association of Goa, said that GoaMiles is a handy app for users and there is need to create awareness on the benefits of this app to taxi operators also.
GoaMiles application has revolutionised the online cab booking experience for overseas and domestic tourists who visit Goa for holidays. When inquired about the new entries of the taxi operators in the GoaMiles system, Moses Lakkipogu, a operation executive at the GoaMiles counter at the Dabolim Airport informed that over 100 new taxi operators have applied for the new registration with GoaMiles app.
He further said that due to the recent model code of conduct the scrutiny and registration process was on hold. But soon it would start. “The applicants will be asked for their police clearance certificate, their other details, inspection of their vehicles will be done and on that basis selection will take place,” Moses said.
When asked why tourists prefer GoaMiles over the other private cabs, Moses said that GoaMiles has transparency, better services, affordable rates and online booking on the smartphone which is much easier for all users. “More and more overseas tourists use online booking and our app comes handy for them. In this app there is also a provision of panic button for the security of the guests,” he said.
GoaMiles taxi operator Rajasaab Sheikhr said that many taxi operators are willing to join GoaMiles seeing the business opportunity, security and regular business for their cabs. “I was unemployed few months ago but when I joined GoaMiles, I am getting good business on GoaMiles,” he said.
Messias opined that people need to adopt to new technology. “The GoaMiles app is wonderful app for the tourists as well as for the taxi operators. The concept is excellent but sadly some taxi operators are reluctant to join GoaMiles. In this app there is choice for consumers. Taxi operator can earn more with this app. They can get online booking for their cab etc, which is very beneficial for the business actually,” Messias said.
