PANJIM: BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade has hinted that the State government may go for stricter restrictions in the next couple of days, to contain the spread of COVID-19.
While speaking to media persons, Tanavade said a total lockdown will not happen but added that strict restrictions are needed to control the spread of the infection.
He noted that the present situation sounds dangerous given the rapid rise in COVID cases. He said BJP had already held discussions with the CM about how the State should go in for some restrictions.
He clarified that he was not suggesting a complete lockdown but that there should be greater control on holding of public events like weddings etc.
He also referred to the demand from people about how visitors entering Goa should be checked for COVID. On this too he said the government will take a decision in the next two days.
He made it clear that postponing the upcoming municipal elections won’t happen and added that the elections are happening all over India and that the surge of cases is a natural phenomenon.
