Porvorim Police Crackdown on Illegal Cricket Betting Operation at Alto-Pilerne; Three Arrested.

In a significant crackdown, the Porvorim Police took action against illegal cricket betting during the World Cup match between India and Afghanistan on Wednesday. Acting on reliable information, a raiding team was swiftly formed, leading to the apprehension of three individuals in a private bungalow located in Alto Pilerne.

Acting on credible information, a dedicated raiding team including PSI Sitaram Malik, Constables Utkarsh Dessai, Mahadev Naik, Siddhesh Naik, Yogesh Shinde, and Nitesh Gaude,  led by PI Rahul Parab was formed. Various items, including mobile phones, laptops, a wifi router, and other equipment valued at approximately Rs. 1,00,000/- were seized during the raid. The arrested individuals, all from Karnataka, were identified as 46-year-old Shankar N, 34-year-old Rupesh P, and 32-year-old R. Kumar. They have been booked under sections 3 & 4 of the Goa Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
