PONDA: Pondaites have demanded urgent solution to stray cattle problem in the taluka at Tisk, market and bus stand.
Most of the locals suggested that a common place for stray cattle pound be identified so that the roads are not occupied by them. The Tisk junction in town is very risky as it is narrow and vehicular traffic managed by one electric high mast lamp which is located in the middle of road and serves as traffic island.
At this spot, the cattle take rest sitting on the road causing traffic chaos. Several cattle herds are seen wandering dangerously on national highways passing through Ponda Taluka as well as internal roads, which are posing risk to the motorists.
Ponda local Rajesh Naik said, “This is an old problem which needs to be solved by the government. In case of Ponda, all the four MLAs should come forward and solve the problem by identifying common space for cattle pound. They are posing risk to motorist and accidents have occurred in the past. The cattle are sometime engaged in “dhirios”, blocking traffic and risking life of motorists.
