MARGAO: Strongly refuting the allegations that he was responsible for the postponement of National Games in 2011, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Wednesday stated that Sports Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar committed “Contempt of Goa Legislative Assembly” by making such “false” allegations.
Margao MLA Kamat has urged the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to advise his ministers to refrain from making baseless statements without proper study and knowledge of the subject matter.
Kamat in his tweet said, “The sports minister holding me responsible for the postponement of National Games is contempt of Goa Legislative Assembly. I have put all records straight. I hope the Chief Minister will advise ministers to refrain from making baseless statements.”
Leader of Opposition stated that during the discussion on LAQ on National Games, he had clearly put the records straight that it was due to delay in the organisation of previous editions of National Games by other States, Goa could not host the Games in 2011. I had brought this fact to the notice of the Chief Minister and Speaker.
“It is unfortunate that ministers don’t study the subject matters properly and try to blame others for their failures to keep up with their own commitments,” said Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat.
