MARGAO: Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, while releasing the election manifesto for Margao Municipal Council (MMC) polls on Friday, claimed that if elected his panel will duplicate a facilitation cell like one in Kalyan and Dombivili, which have proved to be very popular. It is in view to help people, especially senior citizens, by accepting their applications in the ward itself, saving them from visiting municipal building.
“We shall also set up citizens Facilitation Centre at Aquem and Sirvodem,” he said while promising to have a satellite motorcycle and rickshaw stands in the town and claimed old Hospicio premises will be conserved and promoted as Heritage Monument.

He first presented the election manifesto of Model Margao to Lord Damodar at the Pimpal Katta. Sharing it with media, he further claimed his candidates, when elected, will have a dialogue with the people every month at their wards.
“I have been moving around for the last one and a half month and people have assured me that they only need to know who are the candidates I am backing,” he said adding that he climbed many buildings in Aquem and Sirvodem, which are residential hubs of Margaio.
Promising to undertake around 35 works in the municipal jurisdiction he said his panel will provide a clean and green Margao besides getting an ISO certification for the council and added that there will be a state-of-the-art surveillance system for the safety and security of people.
He also promised to make Margao attractive to tourists and also provide Art Galleries and Art Festivals in the town. Kamat also pledged to plant medicinal plants to make an urban forest in the town alongside cleaning, maintaining preserve wells.
He also assured to have a monthly dialogue with the people under the caption “Prashna Tumche, Jaap Aamchi.”
