MARGAO: Curtorim Congress MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco, in a letter to the chief minister on New Year, has requested him not to fix any deadlines for any objective.
“As another year ends, I would like to get to your attention that your previous government (2012 -2017) and the current one (2017 till date) have fooled goemkars on deadlines. Your pet slogan as the then leader of the opposition of throwing casinos out of Goa for good never materialized; rather there has been mushrooming of casinos in pan Goa and now due to your direct interest and personal patronage there would be casino enclaves and casino towns in the state,” he said.
Reginaldo pointed out that the CM had given several deadlines for the district hospital which is yet to be completed after 10 years of construction.
He also reminded Parrikar of his promise of zero tolerance on corruption. ”Your pet slogan of providing zero tolerance to corruption in governance just remains on paper as no action till date whatsoever has been taken against persons holding public offices indulging in corruption connected with illegal mining; against people involved in illegal sale of comunidade land; against kingpins responsible for the sale of formalin laced fish; against drug mafia; against the top echelons of the Goa State Cooperative Bank for indulging in gross financial irregularities etc,” he stated in his letter.
Further, he wrote about Swach Bharat and how Parrikar failed to tackle the problem of garbage littered across Goa and make Goa open defecation free, which Parrikar had promised on January 31st 2018.
“Now your government has shamelessly extended it by one more year to December 19, 2019. Similarly, in the 2017 Liberation Day speech, you had promised for plastic-free Goa by May 2018 and garbage free Goa by December 2018. Again there was zero progress on getting Goa rid of plastic as well garbage. History would not forgive you for making a mockery of deadlines,” he wrote.
