PANJIM: Sanquelim Eagles, Dubai defeated Sanguem SC, Dubai by 10 wickets to clinch the Unity Cup 2014 cricket tournament organized by Bicholim Boys, Dubai at Al Barha Cricket ground, Dubai, on Friday. A total of 13 Goan teams participated.
After winning the toss Sanquelim Eagles opted to field. Sanguem managed to score only 9 runs in three overs infront of fierce bowling attack by Sanquelim Eagles bowler Shoheb Shaikh, Feroz Aga and Sher Khan. Chasing a target of 10 runs, Sanquelim Eagles batsman Feroz Aga scored 10 runs in just two balls.
In the first semi-finals Sanquelim Eagles defeated Margao CC, while Sanquem SC defeated Leopisc Striker in the second semis.
The chief guest Rafik Shaik (head of GWS Sports), Romeen Mulam (GWS president) and Sayed Yakub (president of Sanquelim Eagles) gave away the prizes to the winners in the presence of Sayed Parvez Ahmed (chairman of Sanquelim Eagles), Ferooz Amid Shiakh (president of Kakeez), Riyaz Khan (Margao CC), Shahid Mamlekar (Sanquelim Eagles) and Rizwan Shah (Director of Sanguem SC).
Individual prizes: Man-of-the-match: Feroz Aga (Sanquelim Eagles); Best bowler: Shoheb Shaikh (Sanquelim Eagles); Man of the tournament Aslam Shaikh (Sanguem SC); Best batsman: Akib Shah (Sanguem SC).
