District Collector Venancio Furtado has dispatched a communiqué to the state administration calling for the extension of the ban on Muthalik, based on a report submitted by the district police chief Shekhar Prabhudessai.
In its report, the Goa police said that intelligence reports suggest that entry of the Ram Sene chief and members of the organisation may result in law and order situation in the state.
The state government had first banned the Ram Sene chief’s entry into the state earlier this year in August when both district collectors issued notifications banning the launch of the right-wing Hindu organisation in Goa. The ban was later extended by another two months in October 20 .Under Secretary (home) Neetal P Amonkar issued a notification directing that the ban orders issued by the magistrates of the two districts remain in force for a further period of 60 days.
Sources in the know said Furtado has called for further extension of the ban by a further period of two months to ensure that Muthalik does not enter the state till January.
A senior official said the ball is now in the court of the state administration whether to extend the four month ban for a further period of two months.
