Even three months after the Young Jury Award was announced during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2010, the award winner, Neel Madhab Panda, who bagged the award for his extraordinary film ‘I am Kalam’ is yet to receive it.
IFFI organizers who constituted this award in association with Lokmat group of newspapers have failed to give it to the director Panda, although his name was announced during the concluding ceremony on December 2, last year.
Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) spokesperson Silvia Rebello said that they are waiting for the communication from Lokmat group to finalize the dates to give this award.
ESG’s Chief Executive Officer Manoj Srivastava is in Berlin and is expected to return later this week.
Lokmat group on the other hand has said that ESG’s Executive Committee or Governing Council has not met after IFFI 2010.
The award was mooted by ESG member and Lokmat’s Goa edition Editor Raju Nayak on par with the one given by The Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI). MAMI organises the annual International Film Festival in Mumbai known as the Mumbai Film Festival (MFF).
Nayak said they have not been able to meet since IFFI and during the next meeting the dates for the award presentation ceremony would be decided.
The proposal had stated that ESG could select 12 Goan students and conduct workshop for them on how to judge films that will be screened during IFFI.
