its assurances given to the parents of Siddhi Naik, when they met them on 25th
October 2021, TMC members met the Goa State Commission for Women on Monday and
explained the entire case, including the loopholes. They emphasized that the police
investigation was not done properly and demanded that the case be reopened and
reinvestigated. TMC women members learnt that Goa State Commission for Women
had taken suo moto cognizance of the case and asked Goa Police for their
report. TMC Member Swati Kerkar Shet said they woud wait for one week and if
there is no progress, they would approach the Judicial Magistrate First Class.
Swati
said there was no solution from the govt side and the case was virtually
closed. Hence TMC has pledged to get justice for Siddhi. She explained that it
was not a political issue and they had taken the case up legally. Candle light
protest are good to create awareness, but they do not give justice, she opined.

TMC Member Avita Bandodkar said crimes against women had increased in the BJP ruled states. She condemned the statement of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that girls should not be sent out late and that parents should teach them values. Doris Texeira said the condition of Siddhi Naik’s mother is so bad that she could not speak on 25October 2021, when TMC members went to see the family. She said women are unsafe in Goa and TMC would fight against injustice and see that Siddhi Naik and others get justice.
