Sanresh pedals to glory

PANJIM: Sanresh Shedekar emerged the champion in the men’s category at the first State level cycling race organized by Cycling Goa in view of the World Environment Day, recently.

PANJIM: Sanresh Shedekar emerged the champion in the men’s category at the first State level cycling race organized by Cycling Goa in view of the World Environment Day, recently.
Fredsan Marshall secured the second place while Anantha Viswanathan came third. 
In the ladies category, Anuradha Guglani finished top, followed by Nisha Madgavkar. A total of 33 riders competed. The youngest rider was 11-year-old Shameek Vaz.
The race was flagged off at 6.45 a.m. by D Vijayamohan, Area Sales Manager of Hindustan Petroleum from HP Kavlekar Fuel Station covering a distance of 25km passing through Sancoale, Verna road, Kesarval, Cortalim, Sancoale, Dabolim and back
The race was followed by a World Environment Day rally in the same route joined in by the entire cycling community present of over 100 cyclists, which included riders from Ponda, Panjim, Margao, Vasco and more.
The winners received prizes in cash and sports goodies. The rally was followed by a prize distribution ceremony of the race at the hands of chief guest Dr Sachin Jain, Unit Head of Manipal Hospital in the presence of D Vijayamohan, Siddesh Kavlekar of Kavlekar Fuel station;  Bryan Soares, President of Cycling Goa and Dr Nitish Kerkar, President of Pro-Pedlarz. 
Following the prize distribution of the race, the medals of the Ultra Cycling Association India conducted through the year 2014-15 were also distributed. The event was supported by Gera Developments while medical support was provided by Manipal Hospitals.
