PANJIM: The daily COVID positivity rate marginally increased to 7.63% on Wednesday with another 240 cases being detected. 3,145 samples were tested in the last 24 hours of Monday evening.

390 persons also recovered in that period with the recovery rate now going to 96.50%.
The number of deaths reported by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on Wednesday was 5; in single digit after the 11 reported on Tuesday.
200 persons were placed under home isolation, while 40 patients were hospitalised. 47 persons were discharged from various hospitals.
Five deaths were reported by DHS on Wednesday evening, with all of them taking place at Goa Medical College (GMC). These deaths took place between Wednesday and Tuesday. All of the five deceased persons had comorbid conditions, as per DHS. The youngest to succumb to the infection was a 49-year-old female from Siridao. The remaining four deceased persons were all above the age of 57 years.
The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic has now reached 3,013.
On the other hand, the total number of active cases continues to decline, dropping down to 2,675 cases as on Wednesday.
Out of these, the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ponda with 235 active cases continues to lead the health centres with the highest number of active cases. Urban Health centre (UHC) Margao (156), UHC Panjim (149);Community Health Centre (CHC) Sanquelim (128); CHC Canacona (120); PHC Chimbel (118), PHC Candolim (112); and PHC Cortalim (108) are the only other health centres with over 100 active cases.
There are also 414 vacant beds in government run Covid Care Centres.
