BICHOLIM: About 100 villagers from Dabdabo-Bicholim on Sunday marched to Valpoi Police station to demand the arrest of a fire force personnel who was involved in a mishap that took the life of a 19-year-old boy from Dabdaba.
It may be recalled that Siddhaka Raul died in a mishap in Bicholim on Saturday. The incident occurred at 8 pm when Raul was proceeding on a two-wheeler from Mayem to Bicholim, and was involved in a head-on collision with an oncoming car, which was being driven by the fire personnel. Raul was moved to Bicholim PHC and died while he was being moved to the District Hospital at Mapusa.
According to reports, about 100 villagers gathered at Valpoi Police station and demanded that the fire force personnel involved in the mishap be arrested.
“The fire force personnel was on duty when he killed the boy from Dabdabo. We demand that he should be arrested and immediately suspended from service,” Adv Pushparaj Navelkar told media.
The villagers sought to know how a person who is on duty could go in his private vehicle several kilometers away from the work place.
The police said that the matter was under investigation and pacified the mob with the assurance that action in the matter would be taken once the probe was complete. .
