MAYEM: Karapur Sarvan Panchayat will elect its new sarpanch in the panchayat office on Monday.
The post had fallen vacant after former sarpanch Aaryan Gaonkar was voted out of office in a no-confidence motion on February 18. Presently, the affairs of the panchayat are being looked after by Mahesh Sawant as the acting sarpanch. The post being reserved for women, there are three women contestants in the fray and they included Panchas Divya Kharkande, Jayasri Tari and Shamin Banu Mohamad Rasul Madar.
