PONDA: Ponda Taluka witnessed good response with silent voting as the voters did not show any signs of favour to any party candidates with Priol constituency recording highest percentage of 87.73 per cent followed by Shiroda 82.66 per cent and Marcaim 81.27 per cent.
The Ponda Constituency recorded lowest voting with 77.89 per cent. Voters were seen in queue since early morning. However, voting in most of the constituencies was silent.

Speaking to the media persons, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) President Deepak Dhavalikar said, “The opposition parties will form the next government in Goa. The voters exercised their voting right in favour of change. This time the voters will show BJP the road to home. The voters saw corruption for the past five years and want to end it through ballot.”
Shiroda BJP candidate Subash Shirodkar said, “The BJP will get lead of 3,000 vote margin in all 45 booths of the constituency.”
BJP Ponda candidate Ravi Naik and Marcaim MGP candidate Sudin Dhavalikar also expressed confidence of winning the seats.
At Priol a triangular contest is expected with Priol MLA and Minister Govind Gaude confident of winning the seat second time while his rival MGP candidate Deepak Dhavalikar and Independent candidate Sandeep Nigalye are also in race of winning the seat. Besides, there are five other candidates in fray.
At Ponda, it is a four-cornered battle with former chief minister Ravi Naik, who is contesting on a BJP ticket, faces challenge of MGP candidate Dr Ketan Bhatikar, Congress’ Rajesh Verenkar and Independent Sandeep Khandeparkar. Besides, three more candidates are in fray.
At Shiroda, according to voters, the battle is between BJP candidate Subash Shirodkar and AAP candidate Mahadev Naik. However, MGP candidate Sanket Mule, Congress candidate Tukaram Borkar, NCP candidate Dr Subash Prabudesai are also expected to give tough fight besides other candidates, who are in fray.
At Marcaim, eight candidates are contesting. Although, it is predicted that Sudin will win the seat easily with comfortable margin there is question over whether he would able to retain the 13,000 plus votes margin victory he gained in 2017 because he faces tough challenge from friends turned foes MGP former MLA Lavoo Mamledar and BJP candidate Sudesh Bhingi. Both of whom were once supporter of Sudin, besides other candidates in fray.
