Borimol booth marred with controversy!

QUEPEM: Booth No 16 in Borimol, Quepem was marred with controversy as the voters complained of lack of proper planning and discipline at the booth. 

The booth witnessed long queues as the voters were seen waiting for hours to cast their vote, besides, senior citizens and pregnant women had to also wait for their turn due to slow process at the polling booth.

In the evening, the booth witnessed clashes between the BJP and Congress supporters, wherein the Congress alleged that the BJP supporters were trying to stop voters from voting. 

The quarrel started after a video showing voters being stopped from voting in booth numbers 13,14,15,16 got viral on social media. Timely intervention by Quepem Police and the Central Reserve Police Force brought the situation under control. Congress worker Ivo Coutinho alleged that supporters of BJP candidate Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar had been using muscle power to stop voters from casting their vote and criticised the concerned polling official and police for failing to take action.
