mapusa: A team of doctors from the Porvorim Health Centre led by Dr Sikander Talwar collected 218 swab samples of residents of Paithona, Porvorim on Friday for COVID-19 testing at the Government Primary school, Paithona.

Recently, a COVID-19 positive case was detected at Paithona, Salvador de Mundo of Porvorim, following which Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte had written to the Chief Minister asking that Paithona be declared as a containment zone or under lockdown mode.
He had requested that the lockdown be lifted only after all testing is done.
On Friday, he said, “The Health department has taken necessary steps as required however there is need to lockdown the area and with regards to this I will approach the SP North and get it done. The virus is spreading all over due to which the immediate sealing of borders is also required,” he said “The CM is playing with words but I request him to seal the borders and let people live peacefully. I also appeal to people not to spread rumours and also not to fall prey to rumours and create panic. So far the positive case in Porvorim is only one,” he added.
