Thankfully, the road from Calvaddo to Navelim junction, which witnessed unending traffic has been recentlty widened.
However, one cannot but notice that for some strange reason or that best known to authorities, there are no footpath here or being constructed for the safety of pedestrian on either sides of the road.
The new academic year for schools will commence shortly and thousands of students will soon be seen in the area. However, without a footpath they will have to dangerously navigate the traffic to reach their respective institution.
But as of now, this road is not safe for eager students who study in the nearby educational institutions.
I distinctly remember about two years ago it was announced in the church that the highway will be broadened with a footpath on both the sides of the road, so that pedestrians would not be inconvenienced.
In this regard, a lot of decade-old trees were cut to widen this stretch of road, but there is no sign of any construction of footpaths yet.
I hope the concerned authorities will listen and provide the footpath on both sides of this overcrowded highway, so that not only the students can benefit, but also the public at large.
