UGDP: Uproot BJP, Cong to make Goa graft-free

CUNCOLIM: United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) general secretary Anacleto Viegas, on Monday, stated that the Congress and BJP had looted Goa, and hence, both parties needed to be uprooted from Goa to make the State corruption-free.

He said that UGDP would be revamped and it would contest the forthcoming polls in all 40 constituencies. He added that his party would also try to bring all regional forces under one fold.
Viegas further said that his party would field youth and educated candidates in all constituencies. He stated, “We do not want illiterate MLAs who ruin Goa. If a person can’t develop his personality, how he can work for the development of the State?”
He also stated that UGDP would consider bringing St Cruz MLA Babush Monserrate into its fold.
He also criticised the BJP government for its inefficient Swachh Bharat campaign, which he also said was a waste of money.
“There is no need to educate people about cleanliness. First provide bins and collect and dispose garbage. There is a need to create awareness in local bodies for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” said Viegas.
