PANJIM: A woman lecturer at a reputed institute has accused a colleague of sexual and mental harassment urging Goa Police to take action against him.
The woman, employed with the institute for nearly two decades, has alleged that one Pankaj Kumar Singh has often made offensive gestures and comments despite her objection over the years.
In her complaint lodged at the women’s police station, the victim said that her colleague has also attempted to tarnish her image. A First Information Report under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354 (A) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of IPC has been registered against the man. “We will issue him summons to appear for questioning,” said an officer.
In her nine-page complaint copy, the victim has cited various instances wherein the accused put her in an awkward situation despite her objections. In a latest incident the man allegedly misbehaved with her and another woman colleague at a college event in March this year.
She also alleged that the Sexual Harassment Committee of the institute did not conduct a fair probe and that the request to the institute’s chairperson for a re-inquiry has not been heeded.
