MARGAO: Lavina Veterans prevailed over Curtorim Veterans 5-4 via the tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-finals of All-Goa Navelim Veterans football tournament organized by Navelim Veterans at Rosary ground, Navelim, Friday. The teams were locked goalless at full time.
Poor finishing was the order of the day. Lavina Veterans attacked from the word go but striker Rosario Carvalho was the culprit as he muffed three
sitters.
Curtorim Veterans soaked the pressure from the rival attacks with Roque Esibeiro and Jaoquim Dias excelling in the defence.
Post resumption, Lavina Veterans enjoyed the lion share of exchanges but Rosario Carvalho, who was in the thick of action fumbled.
In the penalty shoot out, Jonny Crasto, Rosario Carvalho, Aczlez Vaz, Raymond D’Souza and Joe
Araujo were on target for Lavina Veterans while Jacinto Fernandes, Alex Dias, Pnitio Fernandes and
Joao Rodrigues converted for Curtorim Veterans.
