A serious hit-and-run accident on October 2, 2025, left a 61-year-old man critically injured, police reported. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. opposite Sanket Store, near Bypass Dodamarg Road, Shivolkarwada, Mulgao.
Mr. Baban Janu Shingadi, a resident of Shivolkarwada, was seated on his parked scooter when a blue Yamaha Fascino, reportedly speeding from the Assonora road side, struck him. The rider fled the scene immediately, failing to assist the injured. Authorities suspect the rider may have been under the influence of alcohol.
Shingadi sustained serious injuries, including tenderness in his left leg. Locals rushed him to CHC Bicholim via a 108 ambulance, from where he was referred to GMC Bambolim and later transferred to Manipal Hospital, Dona Paula, where he underwent surgery.
The Bicholim police have registered a hit-and-run case and launched a manhunt to trace the suspect. Residents are urging the Goa government to install functional CCTV cameras on major roads to prevent similar accidents and aid in the swift identification of offenders.
As of now, the accused remains untraced and at large.
