RAIA: Guardian Angel Sports Club came from a goal down to pip Mandopa Sporting 2-1 in the final to clinch the 46th St Joseph Festival football tournament organised by Dramapur Sports Club at the Dramapur ground, on Sunday.
All the goals were scored in first half, for Guardian Angel SC, Fhezer Gomes netted in the15th minute and Vitorino Fernandes in the 24th minute. For Mandopa Sporting Nash Pereira had scored in the very 5th minute.
The winners Guardian Angel SC took home Rs 60,000 and a trophy, while Mandopa Sporting had to be content with Rs 50,000 and a trophy.
Former India coach and Dronacharya Awardee Armando Colaco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Velim MLA Cruz Silva, who presided; guests of honour St Joseph Church, Dramapur, Parish Priest Fr Pascoal Afonso, St Inez Church Assistant Parish Priest Fr Joel Rodrigues, Navelim Zilla Parishad member Edwin Cardozo, special invitees Dramapur-Sirlim Sarpanch Avita Pereira, Deputy Sarpanch Avita Vaz, panch members, Goa Football Association Vice-President Anthony Pango and club officials.
On the occasion, the club also felicitated Armando and the SSC toppers.
Later, club secretary Joaquim Pereira proposed a vote of thanks.
