Concerns over former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan’s wellbeing intensified this week after his son warned that the family fears authorities may be concealing “something irreversible.” The alarm comes as court-ordered prison meetings have reportedly been blocked for more than three weeks, leaving the family without any proof that Khan is alive.
Khan’s son, Kasim, called the situation a “human rights emergency,” saying that despite a judicial directive for weekly visits, the family has had no verified communication with him. Even Khan’s personal doctor, he added, has not been allowed access for over a year.

While public anxiety grows, PTI Senator Khurram Zeeshan told ANI that Imran Khan is alive and being pressured to leave Pakistan. He claimed authorities have offered concessions if Khan goes abroad and stays silent—an offer he insists Khan will never accept. However, the senator’s statement has not eased fears as no recent photos, videos or authenticated messages from Khan have surfaced.
The 72-year-old former premier has been in prison since August 2023 after convictions in multiple cases, including the Toshakhana, Cipher and Al-Qadir Trust cases—which he says are politically driven.
With rumours of secret transfers circulating and prison visits repeatedly blocked, the family has filed urgent requests for access, including a medical evaluation by Khan’s doctor—none of which have been approved.
“Not knowing whether your father is safe, injured or even alive is unbearable,” Kasim said. “We only want proof of life.”
