MAPUSA: Garhwal United FC, Delhi, registered a fluent 3-1 win over Sesa Football Academy in the Indian Women’s League match played at National Center of Excellence Academy ground, Kolkota, on Saturday.
In a chilly weather, Sesa FA eves under the guidance of coach Gavin Araujo found the going tough with the Garhwal United FC eves scoring all their three goals in the first session of play.
Lhingdeikin and Sanjida Nongrum scored two quick goals in the 12th and 15th minute of play. In the added time, Deepika Pal pumped in the third goal before going into the dressing room.
On crossing over, Sesa FA eves time and again attacked the rival citadel but their strikes failed to score.
Sesa FA’s first IWL goal ultimately did arrive in the 89th minute, though. However, it was too late for anything other than a consolation. Sarjida Khatun tried her luck with a 30-yard effort from the right side, and what should’ve been a routine catch for substitute goalkeeper Monika Devi Shijagurumayum, spilled through her hands and crossed the line.
RESULT
Garhwal United FC 3 (Lhingdeikim 11′, Sanfida Nongrum 15′, Deepika Pal 45+4′)
Sesa Football Academy 1 (Sarjida Khatun 89′)
