Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar Launches ₹1.5 Crore Sewerline Upgrade Project in Baina

Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Tuesday flagged off a ₹1.5 crore project to replace the ageing sewerline near Canara Bank in Baina with a larger-capacity pipeline.

Amonkar said the existing sewer network in the constituency is nearly four decades old and has been causing frequent blockages and overflows, particularly in the Baina area. He added that the current 1.5-diameter pipeline is being upgraded to a larger line with double the capacity by increasing the diameter by 300 mm.

Similar pipeline replacement work is already underway at Sada jetty and Bogda and is close to completion, he said. The main trunk line from Sada to the Baina Sewage Treatment Plant is also in progress, with work expected to begin shortly.

Amonkar appealed to residents to connect their household sewerage systems to the upgraded network and assured that government assistance would be made available free of cost to those unable to afford the connection.
