Goa Govt Likely to Table Unified Club Policy Before Assembly Session: Michael Lobo

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has said that a comprehensive “club policy” is expected to be introduced by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant ahead of the upcoming Assembly session. Lobo said he had discussed the matter with the Chief Minister in the aftermath of the Birch tragedy, stressing the need for a uniform framework to govern club operations in the state.

According to Lobo, the proposed policy would streamline the licensing process by bringing multiple permissions under a single government-approved umbrella system. He added that local panchayats should function as the final licensing authority once all regulatory clearances are obtained.
