PANJIM: The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) MLA Ramakrishna Dhavalikar on Monday termed the State government’s decision to auction the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) land as scam.
Addressing media persons, Dhavalikar said till government declares in the State Assembly, what kind of industries and projects will be coming up on the SEZ land, the same should not be auctioned. “Auction of the land to repay the loan amount is nothing but a scam. There is no information as what kind of projects will come up or who will be allowed to bid,” he said.
Dhavalikar said the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has already released notice for auction of the land, which was unlocked from the promoters.
IDC has already taken back around 24 lakh sq mts from Inox Mercantile Company, Peninsula Pharma Research Centre, Planetview Mercantile Company, K Raheja & Corporation and Paradigm Logistics & Distribution.
The government is in talks with two SEZ promoters-Maxgrow Finlease and Meditab Specialties to unlock the balance around 14 lakh sq mts.
Government has set target of April 30, to auction the land to repay the loan amount of over Rs 200 crore paid to the promoters to unlock the land.
Further, former deputy Chief Minister also slammed Minister for Cooperation Govind Gaude for coming up with a new sugar factory on PPP model by spending Rs 100 crore. “Rather than spending Rs 100 crore, government should have repaired the existing factory by spending just Rs three crore,” he said.
