Residents of Pernem have urged the government to implement the proposed linkage of the 100-bed Tuem Hospital with Goa Medical College (GMC) only after all outpatient departments (OPDs) and essential medical facilities are fully operational.
Although the government has issued a notification for the linkage, locals have expressed concern that the move should not proceed prematurely, fearing it may affect healthcare services in the region. They have called for assurances that the hospital will function at full capacity before being formally linked to GMC.

The residents have sought a written response from the authorities by January 27, clearly outlining steps to make the hospital fully functional. They have warned that failure to address their demands would leave them with no option but to launch an indefinite hunger strike from January 28.
