In a stern move against noise pollution, the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has withdrawn the Consent to Operate (CTO) granted to Hilltop Bar & Restaurant and Salud, both located in Anjuna, for violating prescribed noise norms.
As part of the action, both establishments have been directed to suspend their operations for a period of two months.
In addition, the GSPCB has imposed environmental compensation on the violators, levying a fine of ₹2 lakh on Salud and ₹1.4 lakh on Hilltop Bar & Restaurant.
Officials said the action was taken following confirmed instances of noise violations, reaffirming the Board’s zero-tolerance approach towards activities that disturb public peace and harm the environment.
The GSPCB has warned that similar strict measures will be taken against any establishment found flouting environmental regulations, particularly those related to noise pollution.
