According to the family, the former Special Forces officer and UN peacekeeper was reportedly picked up from a shopping mall and has remained in detention without formal charges.

Speaking in interviews, Jaitly urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene diplomatically and ensure her brother’s safe return, stressing that he had devoted his youth to serving the nation. She said that if any wrongdoing had been involved, legal proceedings would have been initiated by now.
