A man was seriously injured after a single-barrel gun accidentally discharged while he was cleaning it at Borim-Ponda, police said.
The injured has been identified as Pankaj Naik. According to police, the firearm went off accidentally during the cleaning process, causing severe injuries. Naik was rushed for medical treatment, and his condition is reported to be serious.

During the course of inquiry, police found that Naik was in possession of the firearm without valid documents. An FIR has been registered against him under relevant sections for illegal possession of a weapon.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
