Goa Govt Grants Sanction to Prosecute St Cruz Panchayat Officials, Elected Representatives in Garbage Collection Scam Case

The Goa government has granted sanction to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to prosecute officials and elected representatives of the St Cruz Panchayat in connection with an alleged scam related to garbage collection.

Sources said the approval allows the ACB to initiate legal proceedings against those named in the case. The matter pertains to alleged irregularities in the management and collection of garbage within the panchayat jurisdiction.

Earlier, the local court had directed the ACB to register a First Information Report (FIR) in the case. The complaint was filed by local panchayat member Inacio Dominic Pereira, who had sought an inquiry into the alleged wrongdoing.

With the government’s sanction now in place, the ACB is expected to move ahead with further investigation and necessary legal action.
