A delegation from Curchorem, led by MLA Nilesh Cabral, met officials of the Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority to register strong opposition to the proposed coal handling jetty at Assolda.
The group alleged that the project report contains several inaccuracies and claimed the local panchayat has not supported the proposal. They also raised concerns about the lack of proper access to the identified project site.

Cabral said the delegation conveyed residents’ environmental concerns and sought a detailed review before any clearance is granted. Officials assured the issues raised would be examined as per due process.
