A passenger travelling from Delhi to Goa has been booked by police after allegedly smoking a beedi inside the lavatory of a commercial flight, raising concerns about aviation safety.
According to officials, the incident occurred on an Akasa Air flight that landed at Manohar International Airport. Airport security authorities were alerted after crew members detected smoke coming from the aircraft’s lavatory during the journey.

Following the aircraft’s arrival, airport police and security personnel conducted a check and identified the passenger suspected of smoking the beedi. Authorities stated that the individual was also carrying a lighter, which is believed to have been used inside the lavatory.
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant aviation safety regulations. Smoking inside an aircraft is strictly prohibited due to the serious fire risk it poses. Even a small ignition source inside the confined space of an aircraft cabin can endanger passengers, crew members, and the aircraft itself.
Officials emphasized that such actions are treated as a serious violation of aviation safety protocols. Security teams at the airport questioned the passenger after the flight landed and initiated legal procedures as per established guidelines.
