Class 10 Student’s ‘Thar Surprise’ Sparks Online Debate Over Underage Driving

A video of a Class 10 student being surprised with a new Mahindra Thar ROXX after completing his board examinations has gone viral, sparking debate across social media platforms. The clip shows the boy’s parents waiting outside the school gate, recording themselves while hinting at a “big surprise.” When the student exits the school, his mother hugs him and excitedly points toward a newly purchased SUV parked nearby, announcing that it belongs to them.

The teenager’s visibly excited reaction quickly caught the attention of viewers online. However, many users criticised the moment, believing that the vehicle had been gifted to the student as a reward for completing his exams. Critics argued that such gestures could send the wrong message, particularly when the recipient is below the legal driving age.

In response to the growing backlash, the boy’s father, Makarandd Taayadey, clarified the situation through a Facebook post. He stated that the vehicle was bought for the family and was never intended for the student to drive. According to him, the video was misunderstood and portrayed the situation inaccurately.

Taayadey stressed that he and his wife

would be the only ones driving the vehicle and that their son is aware he cannot legally operate it until he turns 18 and obtains a proper driving licence.
