The Government of Goa has ordered the closure of all liquor-selling establishments in the Ponda Assembly Constituency ahead of the upcoming polling process.
According to the directive, all bars, liquor shops, and outlets will remain shut from 6:00 PM on April 7 until 6:00 PM on April 9, or until the close of polling, whichever is later. Another dry day has been declared on May 4, the day of vote counting.

While bar counters must remain closed during the notified period, restaurants will be allowed to operate strictly for food services. Authorities have issued clear instructions that no liquor is to be served during this time.
The measure has been implemented to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of elections, in line with standard electoral guidelines.
