PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday announced that the Central government has classified Goa under the Green Zone for COVID-19 infection.
In a statement, Sawant, however, maintained that the “war against the virus is far from over”.

The Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare classified both districts – North and South – as Green Zones, along with 317 districts across the country.
Writing on social media, Sawant said, “With the efforts of our corona warriors and support of the people of Goa, our State has now been classified as Green Zone by the Government of India.”
He added, “The war against COVID-19 is far from over. We must continue our fight against this virus by adopting a modified lifestyle which gives priority to safe health norms such as sanitisation, wearing of face covers, social distancing and staying at home during the lockdown period.”
Appreciating the work of the health staff, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that with dedication and continued efforts of the doctors and frontline workers, Goa has been listed as a Green Zone. “Let us continue to pursue this war against COVID-19 by following all social distancing norms and guidelines laid down by the Central government,” he tweeted.
