The Kolkata Knight Riders have been dealt a major setback ahead of their crucial IPL 2026 clash against Punjab Kings, with both Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy unavailable. Still searching for their first win of the season, KKR were hoping to bounce back, but losing their two best bowlers has complicated matters.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane confirmed at the toss that Sunil Narine is down with illness and has been ruled out of today’s game. West Indies power-hitter Rovman Powell replaces him. Meanwhile, Varun Chakaravarthy, who has been struggling for form, injured himself while completing a catch of Abhishek Sharma in the previous match. As a result, fast bowler Navdeep Saini has been drafted into the playing XI.
