Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão Calls on Church to Become Beacon of Peace and Hope

Filipe Neri Ferrão, President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) and Archbishop of Goa, has called upon the Church to emerge as a symbol of peace, communion, and service in an increasingly divided world.

Cardinal Ferrão was addressing the gathering during the inauguration of Navajothi Bhavan, the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, and Sahodhara Bhavan, the Diocesan Seminary of the Diocese of Sultanpet at Kanjikode in Kerala.

During his address, the Cardinal emphasised that Church institutions should grow into centres of hope, dialogue, and Gospel values rather than remain merely physical structures.

Highlighting the importance of harmony in diverse societies, he urged the faithful to become “peacemakers and witnesses of hope” while fostering mutual respect among different religions, languages, and cultures.

Cardinal Ferrão also stressed the need for greater unity, compassion, and service-oriented leadership within communities amid growing social divisions across the world.
