Motorists across the United Arab Emirates will receive welcome relief as petrol and diesel prices are set to fall from July 1, ending four consecutive months of fuel price increases. The revised rates were announced by the UAE Fuel Price Committee and reflect easing global crude oil prices after weeks of volatility linked to tensions in the Middle East.
Under the new pricing, Super 98 petrol will cost Dh3.40 per litre, down from Dh3.95 in June. Special 95 petrol has been reduced to Dh3.29 per litre from Dh3.83, while E-Plus 91 will now be priced at Dh3.21 instead of Dh3.76 per litre. Diesel has recorded the biggest reduction, dropping from Dh4.33 to Dh3.60 per litre, a decline of 73 fils.
The reductions follow a period of rising fuel costs triggered by geopolitical tensions and fears of supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. As global oil prices softened during June and concerns over supply eased, the UAE passed on the benefits to consumers through lower pump prices.
The price revision is expected to provide significant savings for motorists. Drivers of compact cars, sedans and SUVs could save between Dh27 and Dh40 on a full tank compared to June prices. Commercial transport operators and logistics companies are also expected to benefit from the steep reduction in diesel prices, helping lower operating expenses.
Fuel prices in the UAE are revised every month and are linked to average global oil prices, along with distribution and operating costs. This system ensures that local pump prices closely reflect international energy market trends.
Although the July reduction offers much-needed relief, fuel prices remain above levels seen earlier this year. Analysts say future price movements will continue to depend on global crude oil trends, geopolitical developments and supply conditions, making monthly revisions an important indicator for motorists and businesses across the UAE.
